Prof Mualla Meets with Arab Economists

President of Damascus University, Prof. Wael Mualla meet on Jan 10th with a delegation of Arab economists who are in Damascus to participate in the proceedings of annual conference of DU’s School of Economics and Commerce. The theme for this year’s conference is “Enhancing the Competitiveness of Arab Economies.” The meeting addressed the best ways to activate cooperation among schools of economics in Arab universities in order to exchange expertise and share knowledge. It was agreed that action plans need to be set in place to develop such cooperation.

Attending economists stressed the importance of the theme of this year’s conference, particularly because Arab countries are not lacking in skill human resources and natural resources. It was agreed that a trading Arab bloc is needed in line with what is evolving on the international arena. The Attendees also emphasized the importance of properly investing the potential of the Arab world through creating the right environment for development.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Prof. Mualla said that the challenges that the Arab countries are facing can’t be dealt with by isolating ourselves, but through academic and scientific openness to others in order to benefit from their experiences in intellectual, scientific and economic fields.
