In a mass demonstration in solidarity with the martyrs of the Freedom Fleet, professors, employees, and students of Damascus University denounced the heinous crime committed by the Israeli war machine against dozens of supporters from a number of Arab and foreign countries for the besieged Gaza.
Those who participated in the sit-in called for the involvement of the international community and humanitarian organizations to put a stop to these barbaric practices that rival the whole world.
President of Damascus University, Dr. Wael Mualla said that this heinous crime committed by Israel against Arab and foreign peace activists in the Freedom Fleet, carrying humanitarian aid to besieged Gaza, has enflamed passions and made an impact on the human conscience. Damascus University expressed its anger toward Israeli brutality when professors, deans, administrators and students came out to protest despite ongoing exams. The demonstration arrived at the Turkish embassy in Damascus waving Syrian and Turkish flags, presenting the embassy with a letter of solidarity and condolences for the martyrs onboard the fleet that died in this brutal aggression. Demonstrators expressed their appreciation of Turkey’s position on Arab issues, especially the honorable stance of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
